OUR MISSION
We bring the French-speaking world to Austin through language, culture, and community. Whether you're learning French, exploring Francophone cultures, or looking to connect with fellow Francophiles, Alliance Française d’Austin is your home for all things French.
To fulfill its mission, AFA offers group language classes and private language classes as well as regular workshops, conversation exchanges, and cultural events, taught by an experienced team of native French speakers.
AFA also provides members and students with connections to other Francophone and Francophile organizations in our community, and publishes a Community Calendar of events in the area as well as a list of Community Resources.
Our vision is to be Central Texas’s leading destination for French language and culture—bringing people together through learning, discovery, and meaningful cultural experiences.
OUR STORY
Founded in 1970, Alliance Française d’Austin is a local nonprofit and part of the worldwide Alliance Française network, established in Paris in 1883. Today, the network spans more than 130 countries, serving more than half a million members and students.
OUR LEADERSHIP
AFA is currently governed by a 13 member volunteer Board of Directors and operated by a small, dedicated, part-time staff. AFA earned a Platinum Seal of Transparency from GuideStar, a recognized charity watchdog organization. For more information, visit our AFA Legal and Financial Documents page.
