Welcome to the Alliance Française d'Austin

The Alliance Française d'Austin is a non-profit organization whose mission is to encourage and develop knowledge of the French language and French and Francophone cultures, and to foster cultural, intellectual and artistic exchanges between the USA and France and French-speaking countries. Our group is a member of a worldwide organization headed by the Alliance Française de Paris, founded in 1883, which currently numbers over 1,135 chapters in 138 countries. Also lending encouragement and support to the 130 chapters in the United States and Puerto Rico is the Federation of Alliance Françaises USA.

NEW CLASS OFFERINGS!
FRENCH FOR TRAVELERS: This class will provide the conversational skills you'll need to handle a variety of situations while traveling abroad - from ordering a meal to asking for directions, accommodations, stores and services, finding emergency help, etc.

HOW to DECIPHER a FRENCH MENU: This class will cover the terminology for food and cooking. It will discuss the culture of food, the components of a meal, the rules for a French meal, the various types of restaurants and their different vocabulary.

BUSINESS FRENCH: Learn French in a business context. This class will cover phone conversations, business meetings, presentations, communicating by email, etc.

For our HARRY POTTER FANS: Reading and class discussion on Harry Potter et la Coupe de Feu, Book 4.


French Language Classes


The Alliance Française d'Austin offers year-round French classes for all levels of learning from total beginner to advanced, in both group sessions and private lessons. Our sessions run for 7 weeks and include daytime, evening, Saturday and Sunday scheduling. Our teachers are native speakers and highly experienced in teaching French as a foreign language. With small classes (6-8 persons maximum), we offer a friendly and stimulating environment to encourage communication and help you gain confidence in the target language. Next Registration: Saturday, April 26, between noon and 1:30 p.m., at the Alliance Française office, 4101 Medical Parkway, room 105.
