In June AFA Ciné-Club will present the 2018 French comedy/drama PLACE PUBLIQUE, a comical portrait and commentary on French society. Early in the story we meet Castro, a once famous television personality. It’s a lovely afternoon in the countryside near Paris. Castro attends a house warming party at the home of his longtime friend and producer Nathalie. During the party Castro encounters reality stars, actors, models, and an eccentric farmer who lives next door. Champagne is flowing and the party is in full swing. Castro’s ex-wife Hélène works the crowd to convince guests to sign a petition in support of an Afghan refugee. She barely notices the arrival of their daughter Nina who just published a book in which the main characters borrow heavily from her parents’ lives and flaws.
Actress and director Agnès Jaoui teams up with Jean-Pierre Bacri for their latest dissection of contemporary French society. Buy Tickets Here
