AFA Club de Lecture meets the fourth Saturday of each month at 2:00pm at the Arboretum location of La Madeleine French Café. It is recommended that participants have at least an intermediate level of French proficiency to join book discussion. All members are welcome to attend and listen. Book Club members supply their own books. Club de Lecture is open to AFA members whose names appear on the current member list.
On Feb 24th AFA's Club de Lecture will meet to discuss La tête en friche by Marie-Sabine Roger. Margueritte is a 95-year-old woman whose greatest joy in life is a good book. The residents of her rural French village take notice when she strikes up a conversation with an illiterate man named Germain who lives in town. As their odd friendship blossoms, Margueritte shares her passion with Germain, teaching him as she reads aloud. As time passes and Margueritte's eyes begin to fail, Germain returns the favor, brining books and reading alive for her. Become an AFA member and join us for Club de Lecture on February 24th at 2pm to discuss this beautiful novel.
