Bastille day is almost here!

Don't miss out on this great French-Austin tradition! Live music, dancing, delicious French food & wine to commemorate the 220th anniversary of the French Revolution. This special event will include Pétanque, as well as a silent auction benefiting the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, custodians of the French Legation.

Once again, entertainment will be provided by Austin's own Olivier Giraud (formerly of Paris 49 and 8 1/2 Souvenirs) and his band Continental Graffiti, one of Austin's top jazz bands. They will play music reminiscent of the romance of Paris in the 30's allowing attendees to dance the night away in a Parisian café atmosphere. Austin's Hot Rhythm Jumpers will be there showing us vintage dances from the 30's.

The celebration of the French National Holiday will reach a thunderous high note with the singing of "La Marseillaise," the French National Anthem.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Alliance Française d'Austin's Frédérique Moinard Scholarship Fund, which annually awards scholarships to area students, and the Historic French Legation, the official home of the representative of the French government during the Republic of Texas.

The French Creative Connection

Lancement du projet The French Creative Connection qui pourra intéresser les membres de l'Alliance Française.

Inauguré début janvier, ce blog est présenté sous forme d'interviews et est mis à jour chaque mercredi, il traite des expatriés français évoluant dans les secteurs des arts et des industries créatives aux Etats-Unis et plus spécifiquement à New York ; que cela soit dans les arts visuels, le spectacle vivant et la musique, la mode, le cinéma ou encore la photo.

Ainsi, ce projet permet de présenter les expériences personnelles et professionnelles de ces français impliqués dans les arts - qu'ils soient artistes ou professionnels du monde de la culture - au sein d'une des scènes culturelles les plus dynamiques au monde: New York. The French Creative Connection permet non seulement de mettre en lumière des parcours et expériences atypiques tout en offrant des pistes de comparaison et de réfléxion sur la scène artistique française.

A group of French students created a site and posted small conversations. This could be very useful for students: they can listen to everyday French conversations. Nous sommes un groupe d'étudiants français à l'IUT de Marseille et dans le cadre de notre projet de 2ème année, nous avons créé un site pour lequel nous enregistrons de petites conversations en français avec d'autres étudiants ou des gens de notre entourage. Nous pensons que ce site peut intéresser ceux qui apprennent le français et veulent l'entendre tel qu'on le parle. Pour les aider, nous transcrivons ces conversations et donnons quelques explications.
